In recent years, Career Development has emerged as a distinct discipline across Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Scholars and practitioners in these regions have increasingly adopted a grassroot approach to conceptualizing career development within the unique local contexts. This webinar introduces the seminal work of Dr. Peng Yongxin, whose book Careerology was published in March 2023 (Simplified Chinese, Hong Kong), July 2025 (Traditional Chinese, Hong Kong), and October 2025 (Simplified Chinese, Mainland China). The session will explore key concepts emerging from this text, offering insights into how career development is understood in the Chinese culture past and present and highlighting the potential implications of these ideas for global career studies.
