What are some of the current best practices in career centers in the Asia Pacific region? There is always a need to balance in-person services with virtual services, but what does that balance look like today? What proportion of your services are one-on-one versus groups or classes? What proportion of your students use your services? Are you able to systematically reach undecided students or do you wait for them to recognize that they need your help? What kinds of materials are located in your career center (or on the career center website) and how do you make sure your materials are up-to-date?
Please join this open discussion and share your insights about the goals, responsibilities, and activities of today’s career centers and higher education career planning services in general. For each of the major goals of a career center, we will also ask how to reach them more effectively. When you register for this discussion event, indicate if you want to share your insights or just want to listen. Those who want to share will be called on first to share your insights.
This discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Marilyn Maze, but the presenters will be the attendees. We will begin with a discussion of the major goals for a career center in higher education. Then anyone who wants to share best practices on how to achieve those goals will be invited to do so.
