Raquel Noboa had worked in the hospitality industry her whole life, but in 2012, she became painfully aware of how damaging the industry is toward the environment. Hotels and restaurants use more energy and water than they need to and produce more waste than is necessary due to poor systems. Ms. Noboa left her beloved career to found Fifty Shades Greener (FSG), a leading educational company teaching the hospitality workforce how to change their behavior around the use of utilities, reduce workplace carbon emissions and ultimately save money on utilities. FSG is unique in that it provides solutions that benefit businesses holistically both in terms of reducing their carbon footprint and profit. In 2020, FSG broadened their scope to include secondary and technical school programs. While originally Ireland based, FSG has recently expanded operations to the UK and India is now partnered with UNESCO to reach the rest of the world.
