Join Dr. Roberta Borgen as she shares results of recent Canadian research regarding the employment and education experiences of diverse individuals in rural and remote communities. Through interviews, focus groups, and surveys, researchers examined the perspectives of jobseekers and employees, community service providers, and employers, on factors contributing to employment success for individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds as well as those with diverse abilities. This Diversity Disconnect research identified 20 factors that either helped or hindered employment success for people who were under-represented in their local workplaces. Attending to these factors can help us to create inclusive workplaces where all people have the potential to thrive!
