Culture Shock when Students Choose an International University

By Emma Golden

Thu Jan 9/Fri Jan 10, 2025

Transitioning from high school to university always includes challenges, but leaving one’s home country to attend a university in another country has immense implications for the career path of the individual.  The potential alienation, isolation, and culture shock impact young people dramatically at a time when they are making key decisions about where to study and work. We will explore the effect of the immigrant experience on young people, including ideas and discussion about how best to advise and prepare them to factor these social and cultural considerations into their choices and navigate their new contexts once they have made their transition. This will be an interactive webinar, so if you have tips or experience that our community might find helpful, please be prepared to share and discuss!
